Plumas County is northern Sierra forest country around Quincy, Portola and the Lake Almanor basin, with timber, recreation and county government as the main employers. The 2021 Dixie Fire burned much of the county and destroyed Greenville, so rebuilding, fire-hazard mapping and insurance availability now dominate the land market, alongside heavy Forest Service and PG&E watershed ownership.
