Sierra County, California
Sierra County is one of California's smallest by population, a northern Sierra county of about three thousand people with Downieville as its seat and Loyalton as its only incorporated city. Ranching, timber and recreation are the economy, and with the Tahoe National Forest covering most of the county, development is confined to the Sierra Valley and a few river canyon towns.
