Terms of Use

1. What you may do

VMAP's live county maps are free to browse for personal and professional use — research a property, check a zone, share a screenshot, cite what you find (a link back is appreciated). Licensed KMZ files you purchase may be used within your own organization per the purchase terms.

2. What you may not do

You may not scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically copy VMAP's map layers, cards, or data files; republish or redistribute them; resell them; use them to build or train a competing dataset, product, or service; or access the site with automated tools that circumvent its intended browser use. VMAP's layers, cards, compilation, organization, and presentation are protected by copyright as a compilation, and unauthorized copies are traceable — the data carries embedded identification.

3. The data itself

VMAP aggregates public records (county GIS, state cadastral services, FEMA, the U.S. Census Bureau, official legislative rosters, news sources) and adds substantial curation, correction, formatting, and enrichment. Underlying public records remain public; VMAP's compilation and derived works are VMAP's. Data is provided as is, without warranty — verify anything material with the authoritative source before you rely on it in a transaction.

4. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VMAP is not liable for decisions made on the basis of the maps or data, or for interruptions, errors, or omissions. The service is free during the current period and offered with no service-level commitment.
