Buckingham is a rural central Virginia county at the crossing of US 15 and US 60, with timber, agriculture, the Buckingham Correctional Center and the Willis Mountain kyanite operation as the real employers. Development is small scale and corridor driven because public water and sewer reach only Dillwyn and the courthouse area, and the county functions largely as a drive market to Farmville and Charlottesville.
