Henderson County, North Carolina
Henderson County lies in the mountains southeast of Asheville along I-26, centered on Hendersonville and the growing towns of Fletcher, Mills River, and Laurel Park. Apple orchards still cover the county — it grows about 80 percent of North Carolina's apples — but in-migration and retiree demand have made this one of the region's most active residential markets, with remaining farmland increasingly rezoned for subdivisions.
